Signals of Agency, Curated by Eric Souther. Poster design by Jacob Yatsko
In late 2021, I interned as the graphic designer for Alfred University's Fosdick-Nelson and Cohen Galleries. I worked on developing the visual branding for six shows between the two galleries; I worked with my mentor and collaborated with the shows' artists to help bring their show identities to life. For each show, I manipulated the given text, images, and graphics to design a series of posters that served as the core of the show's identity, and I also designed title cards, vinyl wall type, postcards, and banners to match.

Each show's artists and curators requested different artistic parameters for making a good show identity. With the Signals of Agency identity, I had more freedom to interpret the text in terms of color and legibility, whereas the mandatory two images and requested "clean" text of the Remote Connections show demanded a much more strict layout.

The After Alfred gallery show was also accompanied by a workshop given by a few of the show's artists on the day of the show's opening. I designed a separate but related poster to advertise for this event as well. The porch banner was also introduced as a new addition to the Cohen Gallery's visual arsenal for this show, so I feel happy that I was able to help grow the gallery's presence on Alfred's Main Street with this show, and for future shows.
